Raventós i Blanc Blanc de Blancs

May 2nd, 2026

While Cava can sometimes be overlooked in favor of French traditional method sparkling, Raventós i Blanc Blanc de Blancs proves just how serious and compelling it can be. This is sparkling wine with intent. It is dry, mineral-driven, and rooted deeply in place.

Raventós i Blanc is not just a producer, but a family story that stretches back over 500 years, with the estate in their hands since 1497. And in 2012, they made a decisive break from the DO Cava, choosing instead to create their own appellation: Conca del Riu Anoia. The reasoning was simple: stricter standards, estate-grown fruit, vintage-only production, and a sharper focus on terroir. Though the wine is made in Penedès using the traditional method, it’s not labeled Cava by design. This is about precision, identity, and a faithful expression of the River Anoia Valley.

This is a true Blanc de Blancs, but unmistakably Catalan in character. A blend of 40% Xarel·lo, 39% Macabeu, 15% Parellada, and 6% Malvasia de Sitges, all sourced from a single vineyard site: Vinya del Llac. Fermented first in tank, then in bottle, and aged for 18 months on the lees, it’s built with both structure and nuance.

In the glass, it offers something distinct from Champagne’s Blanc de Blancs style. Expect crisp orchard fruit like green apple and pear, layered with citrus, subtle herbal notes, and a saline edge that reflects its Mediterranean roots. The bubbles are fine, the texture precise, and the finish clean and complex.

Raventós i Blanc Blanc de Blancs is about clarity, balance, and a true sense of place. Perfect for aperitivo, seafood, or any moment that calls for something thoughtful yet easy to enjoy.

If you’re looking for sparkling wine with real character, this is one to know.
