Tiberio Trebbiano D’Abruzzo

June 17th, 2026

Tucked beneath the towering peaks of the Gran Sasso and just a short drive from the Adriatic coast, Tiberio has become one of the defining estates of modern Abruzzo.

More than a decade ago, siblings Cristiana and Antonio Tiberio took over the family estate and helped establish Abruzzo as one of Italy’s most exciting wine regions. Today, they farm 74 acres of vineyards, focusing on native varieties and meticulous, low-intervention winemaking.

Their Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is the wine that changed many people's minds about Trebbiano.

This is not the widely planted Trebbiano Toscano found throughout Italy, but the much rarer Trebbiano Abruzzese: a distinct, DNA-verified variety prized for its character, structure, and remarkable aging potential. Limestone-rich soils, hand harvesting, native yeast fermentation, and free-run juice preserve the grape’s purity and remarkable sense of place.

The 2023 vintage is brilliant pale yellow with green highlights and bursts from the glass with orange blossom, jasmine, apricot, grapefruit, lemon zest, and chalky minerality. On the palate, green apple, citrus, and almond notes are framed by vibrant acidity and a deep mineral core. There’s a striking Chablis-like precision here, balanced by the generosity of central Italy.

What makes Tiberio so compelling is its combination of intensity, freshness, and age-worthiness. While utterly delicious today, the wine’s mineral structure suggests it will evolve beautifully over the next five to ten years.

Tiberio is frequently mentioned alongside some of Abruzzo’s most revered producers, yet remains one of Italy’s great white wine values.

Pure, mineral-driven, and endlessly drinkable, this is one of the finest expressions of Trebbiano Abruzzese being made today. For lovers of crisp, coastal whites, and wines with genuine regional character, this is not to be missed.
